Protein Punch

nutty meatloafProteins baby !

This recipe is a true protein bomb. Because of the cashew nuts & tahini it is full of quality proteins and fats. It is rich in fiber and has a high energy value, the bananas make the energy of the smoothie even higher. The high content of vitamins and minerals, makes this smoothie very suitable for sports performance.

Healthy, good and also extremely tasty.

What do you need: for 2 glasses

– 2 bananas.
– 1/2 tablespoon tahini (sesame paste).
– 40 g raw cashew nuts (handful).
– 1 heaped tablespoon honey (not vgn) or maple syrup (vgn).
– 1 good dash of vanilla extract (I use a super tasty organic liquid extract that I bought at the health food store).
– 300-350 ml soy milk (depends on your preferred thickness).

How to prepare:

This is the easy part. Break the bananas into pieces in the blender, add honey, tahini, nuts, vanilla and soy, and blender into a smoothie.

It’s done, time to taste.

Tip 1 : Be careful with the tahini, as this is a strong flavor that is easily dominated. Preferably first add half the amount of tahini so you keep control of your personal taste.
Tip 2 : By soaking the cashew nuts in water for at least 4 hours, it gives you even more of the valuable substances from the nuts for your body.

Made this smoothie for breakfast. Very nice!
Another smoothie you might like: banana-ginger shake.
Put 1 banana (in slices) a night in the freezer.
Next morning put the banana in a blender, use a grater to pulverize ginger and use 1/2 table spoon pulverized ginger (you may have to try out the amount of ginger that you like most), some cinnamon and 2 glasses of apple juice. Blender into a smoothie.

Yummy!! This will last me till lunch easily. Great way to start the day. I would recommend soaking the raw cashews for at least 4 hours. I soaked them overnight. This activates the healthy stuff in the cashews and makes this shake even healthier.

  5. THANK for the GREAT comment, you made my weekend start perfectly : )
